Subsidized Employment
Mono County’s Subsidized Employment Program can reimburse employers up to $10,500 over 6 months for hiring eligible participants.
100% wage reimbursement is available for the first 30 days, up to $3,000. The remaining 5 months wages are reimbursed at a flat rate, not to exceed actual wages:
-$1,500 per month for 40 hours per week
-$1,000 per month for 30-39 hours per week
-$500 per month for 20-29 hours per week
On-the-Job Training
The On-the-Job Training Program assists employers with the costs of hiring and training new employees. The program offers financial reimbursement of up to 90% of the employee’s wages during the training period, based on the business size. Training periods can range from a few weeks up to 6 months. Mono County will approve the training timeframe based on the employee’s current skills and experience, and the complexity of the job.
Size of the Business Reimbursement Level
0-50 Employees 90% of Employee’s Wages
51-250 Employees 75% of Employee’s Wages
250+ Employees 50% of Employee’s Wages
Job Skill Placement
Job Skills Placement provides employers with staff at no cost. Similar to an internship, it places program participants in work assignments with public organizations, private business, or non-profit agencies. It’s a win-win: Participants gain valuable work skills and experience to further their career goals, and the employer gets assistance and increased productivity.
Mono County administers this program, and participants are not considered employees of the organization or business in which they are placed. Worker’s Compensation is paid by the state.
