Mono County Announces COVID-19 Vaccine Transition Plan

June 30, 2021 – Effective July 1, Mono County Public Health’s walk-in clinics will be winding down to twice per month as local partners, including Mammoth Hospital, join us in administering COVID-19 (Coronavirus) vaccines.  Safe, free, and effective COVID-19 vaccines are now available to everyone age 12 and up, and Mono County Public Health urges unvaccinated residents and visitors to join the millions of Californians who’ve already been vaccinated in an effort to help end the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Public Health walk-in clinics have proven successful over the past several months, and nearly 65% of our eligible population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” stated Bryan Wheeler, Mono County Director of Public Health.  “While we are proud of the progress we’ve made, the virus is still present in Mono County, and positive cases continue to pop-up amongst our unvaccinated residents and visitors.  In addition, we’re experiencing severe variants throughout the United States, threatening our positivity rate, and potentially stressing our local healthcare system.  We continue to urge residents and visitors to get vaccinated in an effort to protect our community.”

Mono County residents and visitors are encouraged to visit the California Department of Public Health’s My Turn website at myturn.ca.gov to check for local appointments, and schedule your COVID-19 vaccination.  Mammoth Hospital, Vons, and Rite Aid have all joined in the vaccination effort, and appointments are available via My Turn.  In addition to scheduling your appointment via the My Turn website, appointments can be made directly with your medical provider, and at Mammoth Hospital.

Individuals who need assistance in scheduling an appointment can call the Mono County Public Health Department at (760) 709-6765.
